More Strange Creatures

Neil Arnold, Kent Big Cat Researcher responds:

"I was rather thrilled to read the story of the strange white animal seen nr Meopham and am desperately seeking the details of exact date when this peculiar sighting took place, and maybe contact with the person involved in the sighting.

I do have a possible explanation to this eerie event, and that is an albino exotic cat. Black Leopards, Puma, Lynx etc are all very common across Kent, I received over 350 reports a year but 'white' cat sightings are rare...but albinfelids are not and there is certainly nothing to say that there aren't albino large cats out there, it's hardly bizarre, but it would be one of the only sightings of such a cat from the county.

People who see such cats often describe them as bounding, and very fast at that. A large cat would concentrate on the abundance of rabbits for prey and would appear bigger than a dog, especially if a large, muscular male. White cats have been caught on film across the UK. I am very familiar with the location and would like to hear from anyone who has seen such an animal. It just be reasonably easy to track if I am able to receive more sightings, bit in conclusion I'd certainly say that a large albino cat was responsible.

Also to note, whilst on the subject of albino animals, white deer are very beautiful to see and at times eerie to view, especially a white stag. In the last few weeks an albino wallaby was sighted further North in the UK, the animal was caught on film."

"Dear Sir,

I have recently read your interesting article on strange creatures sighted in Kent. This is a subject that has always intrigued me and although somewhat vague, I have an addition in which you may be interested.

My good friend recently stayed at a cottage in Dode near Meopham over the weekend and during the afternoon, whilst relaxing and admiring the view from his dwellings, he and his partner witnessed an unusual sight.

A white "animal" emerged from woods at the side of a field, across about 1/4 of a mile over a field and back again. Not that strange you might think, but apparently this happened in about 12 seconds! The "animal" looked as though it was after a group of rabbits and it ran faster than a horse. The action was more of a bounding than a run.

I enquired as to the size of this creature and was informed that it was much bigger than a dog but not as large as a horse. In fact, a fox was witnessed passing through the same field and was minute in comparison.

I am afraid that's it, no other clues are offered, other than the cottage owner has never heard of such a thing before (or so he says).

I do not question my friends authenticity one iota. I am sure there is a logical explanation as suggested by the "zooform phenomena" in your article. I just wondered if any one has ever heard of anything similar and could perhaps, offer an explanation.

Many thanks."
