Chartered Surveyor Jobs And Career Advice
Chartered Surveyor Jobs And Career AdviceLooking for an exciting career, that's both challenging and pays well, then life as a Chartered Surveyor could be a great choice - according to the latest research from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The seventh annual RICS and Macdonald Salary survey shows that professionals working in the property sector reported an average salary of 48,900 (excluding bonuses and other benefits) in the South East and London - the highest paid of any region in the UK. That's a rise of 5,400 or 12.4% on last year's average earnings. Given the salaries, it's not surprising that employee satisfaction is running high, and 66% of the survey's 5,300 chartered surveyors stated that they were unlikely to change employer in the next 12 months. The survey results show that chartered surveyors are closing the salary gap with fellow professions such as the law (48,000) and engineering (53,067). Some specialisms such as fund management enjoy average salaries in excess of 60,000. Trevor Hines, RICS South East Regional Director, said: "With better salaries and career prospects mentioned as the likely drivers for staff to leave their current employers, firms need to ensure that they offer a competitive package ensuring opportunities for individuals to take responsibility early in their careers, providing a range of progressive and interesting work projects and cultivate an inclusive management style." If working abroad in the future is on your list of things to do, then being a qualified Chartered Surveyor could be just the ticket. Approximately 10% of survey respondents are based outside of the UK. On average the annual salary for the international respondents was 32% higher than those in the UK. This is a 13% increase on last year's average salary. If you are looking for a new career then a visit to www.rics.org is the first place to start.
