The Post Office was formerly a subsidiary of the Royal Mail but is now an independent Government owned company. It has been an institution on the British high street for hundreds of years but it is going through the most dynamic phase in its long history. In 2012 it was announced that nearly 6,000 branches were to be developed and improved through £1.34bn three-year programme.
Post Offices are also now part of growing network, government has made a commitment to cease branch closures and open a number of new offices.
