Jobs In The Post Office

  • Postman or Postwomen jobs - Delivery Post men and Post women are responsible for sorting and delivering the mail on their routes, whatever the weather!  Depending on where you are based you might make your delivery on foot, by bike or a small van. 
  • Post Office driving jobs - Royal Mail has one of the largest transport networks in the UK so their driving vacancies include: Large Goods Vehicle (LGV C&E) Drivers, Van Drivers, Branch Direct Delivery Drivers and to and from banks, financial institutions and Postbus Drivers.
  • Post Office sorting office jobs - Sorting items by hand into compartments on a sorting frame, overseeing the automatic sorting process, bagging and labelling mail for its destination, moving mail around the office between conveyor belts, loading docks and trolleys, moving mailbags from cages, sorting mailbags and bundles of mail into cages and loading and unloading wheeled containers from vehicles to the dispatch areas.
  • Post Office Data entry jobs - View pictures of mail on-screen that cannot be read by automated machinery, use screen prompts to resolve issues with the address and make corrections so the mail can be delivered.

Post Office Graduate recruitment

Limited number of places, the best time to apply is usually Autumn/Winter. Opportunities in areas like: Operations, HR, Finance, Sales and Marketing. On their structured programme, you'll experience up to three job roles within your chosen specialist area, getting to know our brands, strategy, and processes inside out. 

Professional and management Post Office jobs exist in areas like: Post Office Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Sales and Marketing. 

Apprenticeship Scheme will give you the opportunity to:

Successfully obtain a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Mail Services
Gain a broad understanding of Royal Mail operations through formal development and, more importantly, from doing the job!

The Apprenticeship Scheme lasts for 18 months - during this time you should complete your NVQ. Once the NVQ has been successfully signed off by the awarding body and the 18 month Scheme completed, the following 6 months will allow training opportunities for individuals wishing to progress into management.
