The Royal Mail

The start of the Royal Mail is a matter of some conjecture but most historians trace the origins of the British Postal Service to Henry VIII and his appointment of a Postmaster General five hundred years ago. Royal Mail Holding Plc is a state owned enterprise responsible for the collection and delivery of letters through the Royal Mail and parcels by Parcleforce. The Post Office is now a completely separate business.

The delivery of the mail has traditionally been heavily dependent on the use of bicycles. Over 75,000 cycles have been sent to Africa in partnership with Re-cycle.
