Social Work Jobs In Medway, Social Care Jobs
Published social work jobs in Medway are for paid and
voluntary posts in the Medway area and at the time of writing included:
- Residential Care
The work involves providing personal care to a wide variety of people who for one reason or another, find themselves needing short term or long term care in a residential home. You would be involved in helping and supporting people in all aspects of their personal care be that washing, dressing, eating or helping them to continue with the interests that they may have had prior to them needing residential care.
- Domicilary and Homecare
Most people who need personal help and care want to remain in their own home along with their memories and personal possessions. This however is often only possible with the skill and caring support of domiciliary or home care workers. The work may involve helping someone get up in the morning and to get to bed at night, and providing help with a whole range of other tasks in between. These include help with washing, dressing, and the preparation of meals as well as providing domestic help with tasks such as cleaning and shopping.
- Day Opportunities
The work centres around enabling adults/elderly to occupy themselves during the day in a range of meaningful activities. Your job could be based at a resource centre or the work may be based at the persons home. Depending on the individuals choice and need you may be teaching basic life skills and independent living skills; such as using public transport and using the telephone.
- Learning Disabilities
One of the most important things is that you have the right attitude. This means treating people with learning disabilities as people as individuals; people who have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. In a nutshell this means treating people as you would like to be treated yourself if you needed the same level of care.
- Mental Health
The work involves supporting clients to maintain their personal hygiene and to re-train clients to regain lost skills through ill health. You must be able to treat people with respect and support clients to become as independent as possible. The work will involve supporting clients to get up each morning, to support clients in daily living tasks and to introduce clients back into their own community. Your work place will be the client’s homes or in residential homes and you will be working as part of a team.
- Physical Disabilities
One of the most important things is that you have the right attitude.
