Kent Christmas Events 2012

If you want to throw a party this Christmas the first thing you'll need to do is decide if are you going to use a venue or run it from your own home. If you're looking for a pub or restaurant to host your Christmas bash take a look at:

There are so many different ways you can run a Christmas party that simple advice and check lists will be specific to your own event but take a quick look at our tips list below for some helpful suggestions:

  • Budget your event. If you're the person expected to settle the bills, come up with a plan. If people are making a contribution, get the money up front and make sure they have their expectations set.
  • Make sure you know how many people are coming, send out invitations and ring people up if the don't RSVP. Without a good idea of numbers if makes; food, drink and entertainment difficult to plan.
  • It isn't a Christmas party without presents so find a mechanism (Secret Santa for example) to make sure everyone gets a gift.
  • If you don't want people to drink too much give them something else to do, games, eating, singing. Too much alcohol is always a bad idea.
  • Make sure everyone knows how to get home and what they're doing before they get started. Taking into account, drink driving and public transport limitations. A good way to achieve this is to book cabs at the start of the evening. If there is going to be lots of local travel you could hire a taxi or mini bus in advance to ensure you have something available.
  • If you're going to serve food make it great. If it's memorable or unusual, people will notice.
  • Make sure soft drinks, hot drinks and non alcoholic beverages are available.
  • If you're having the bash in a residential area make sure the neighbors know what is going on.
  • Use some Christmas decorations to dress the venue.
