Staff at Millbrook's garden centres raised a stunning gift for a local charity throughout 2012. A grand total of £5,390 has been donated to Demelza Hospice Care for Children, a charity providing essential services for children and their families throughout Kent And East Sussex.
At Yourcounty we've been publishing local community features for over a decade, if your organisation has some fund raising news to share we'd be delighted to hear from you. Our contact details are at the foot of the page. Follow this link for more local community and charity news.
Each year Millbrook selects one charity to support for twelve months and last year the nominated organisation was Demelza. The money was raised through a number of events supported by staff members from both Crowborough and Southfleet. Amongst the highlights of the campaign were the successful Charity Festive Evenings and the Three Peaks Challenge completed by Managing Director, Tammy Woodhouse.
Matthew Upton, Manager of Millbrook in Southfleet, said:
"Demelza Hospice Care for Children cares for life-limited children and their families, offering respite breaks, end of life care and bereavement support at its hospices in Kent and South East London. It also offers a hospice at home service for children in East Sussex and parts of South West Kent. "
Millbrook is a leading, family run garden centre is Southfleet with a sister branch in Crowborough. As well as retailing all things gardening (trees, plants, shrubs, furniture) Millbrook also has it's own nursery and a 90 cover cafe'/restaurant.

Kent community news
Kent is home to thousands of local charities and not for profit community groups. They serve local people and support a wide range of good causes at home and abroad. Behind every organisation is a person or group of people committed to making a difference to the object of their good cause. At Yourcounty we aim to provide free coverage of any local organisation looking for some promotion within these pages.
How can we help?
If you send us some relevant and original copy, we'll publish it within our community section where possible. Across the website we receive more submissions for inclusion that we can use but for the community pages we try to find a home for all worthy material that we receive. As long as the information is connected to a good cause and linked to Kent in some way we're likely to find a way to use it.
Your feedback counts
The Yourcounty community pages really only scratch the surface of the not for profit activity in the county. We generally publish material as we receive it. If you or your organisation has a story to tell or wants to make some suggestions about the quality or quantity of our coverage let us know. Please type 'community' in the title of your email.
