Down House - Home To Charles Darwin

Down House is a fascinating building in its own right but its primary claim to fame is as the home of Charles Darwin for over 40 years. Down House provides an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into the mind and work of one of Britain's greatest scientists and thinkers. The static and interactive displays and free audio tour give the visitor the chance to follow in Darwin's footsteps in understanding evolution and tell us a little of the life of Darwin the man. Downe is a beautiful part of the Kent countryside and when you are there it's hard to believe that the centre of London is only 15 miles away.

Down House presents a great opportunity for anyone interested in Charles Darwin or the history of science. As a day out it may struggle to hold the interest of younger children.

Pre-booking is necessary for groups, it takes 90 to 120 minutes to view the attraction. Limited parking 50 yards distant. Contact Down House direct to confirm details.
