Kent Walks - Rambling In Kent

Walkers and riders looking for different routes in the countryside this summer should check the latest edition of Defra's Conservation Walks and Rides Register.

From birdwatching in Kent, lakeside meanders in Buckinghamshire, butterfly spotting excursions in Hampshire, coastal and downland walks in Sussex to walks across farmland, open countryside and flower-rich meadows in Berkshire, Surrey and Oxfordshire, there is a wide variety of access to some of the most spectacular landscape in the South East. A total of 71 sites in Kent are featured including Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory.

Many walks include breathtaking views and historical features, some pre-dating the Domesday Book. Most involve no more than a gentle stroll, but all provide the opportunity to simply pause and enjoy the outdoors. Routes include bridleways for those on horseback or cyclists, paths to assist the less mobile, and some sites offer the chance to wander at will or enjoy a family picnic.
