Winter Breaks

Lille Christmas Market
18 November – 30 December
In the heart of the winter, the city of Lille takes on a festive atmosphere. On Place Rihour, more than 80 Christmas chalets are packed with gift ideas, nativity figurines, Christmas decorations and festive food. You’ll find regional specialities here, as well as fine arts and crafts from Russia, Poland, Quebec and other countries. Don’t forget to try out the gingerbread or treat yourself to a glass of mulled wine. Take a ride on the big wheel, which at 50 metres high, gives a fantastic view of the city sparkling with its Christmas lights.

Etaples sur Mer – Saint Nicholas Parade
9 December
Father Christmas will be on a walkabout around Etaples on 9 December, accompanied by a group of ‘helpers’ handing out sweets to the people lining the streets. He will finish at the Hotel de Ville, where he will be met by the Mayor.

Guines – Fête de la Dinde
12 – 14 December
Every year, the citizens of Guines celebrate their famous local produce – the turkey – with its very own festival ! The best of the local birds are paraded through the town for everyone to admire. There’s also plenty of food and local drinks available to sample.

Le Touquet – Christmas Village and Skating Rink

Walk through the enchanted forest, with its wooden chalets and visit Father Christmas’ house. You’ll find all sorts of gifts here, and if you’re feeling like a bit of exercise, try out the skating rink or relax and take a ride in a horse drawn carriage. There are other activities for children too.
