The idea behind our La France features is to provide some general information and advice on potential tourist destinations within a couple of hours drive of The Channel ports. Thus making many of the places we feature ideal for day trippers from the UK or stop over locations en route to further destinations as well as holiday suggestions in their own right. Your feedback is really important to us so we welcome your comments, particularly when it comes to identifying small hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions, particularly if they are a little off the beaten track!. Our contact details are at the foot of the page.

Wimereux is regarded as being one of the most traditional of the Opal Coast resorts, it was already established when La Touquet was still not much more than a forest with a few chalets. Wimereux takes its name from a small river that meanders through the Boulogne hinterland. Wimereux is included within the The Parc Naturel Regional des Caps et Marais d'Opale which extends from Calais to Boulogne. It is also twinned with Herne Bay and Schmallenberg. And is part of the so called Terre des 2 Caps', a land of diverse and beautiful landscapes. During your stay why not stop for a walk to Cap Gris Nez followed by a drink in the charming fishing village of Audresselles.
Wimereux, a delightful old-style seaside resort , is the perfect place to enjoy the traditional “Moules Frites” on the sea front. The architecture of the town is predominantly Victorian Anglo-Norman in style. With its promenade and beach huts it retains much of the flavour of this era and makes it the place for a great day out.
