The George & Dragon - Pubs In Headcorn - Country Pubs In KentThe George is a freehouse standing in the picturesque High Street at Headcorn. The restaurant is clearly an important side of the business and both the space dedicated to eating and the quality of the menu suggest that it's a pub that takes food very seriously. There is a small car park to the rear and a decked beer garden. The bar menu includes the old favorites of jacket potatoes and toasted sandwiches. The main menu is more ambitious with some excellent dishes like lamb steak and beef stroganoff starting at about £14. The pub has a good reputation for the quality of its food, which in my opinion is fully deserved, you'll eat as well in The George & Dragon as in some more higher priced restaurants. The weekday lunchtime trade is genteel and local with just as many diners as drinkers although the evening and weekend trade is more mixed. Despite the emphasis on food the pub has a good range of beer, including: Heineken, The White Beer - Hoorgarden, Stella, Caffreys, Guinness, Master Brew, Harvey's Sussex and Flowers. The George & Dragon
"Had a very good lunch at this pub, good informal atmosphere with lots of choice of beers and ciders. Joyce"
