The Dering Arms - Pubs In Pluckley - Country Pubs In Kent

Built in 1840, The Dering Arms started life as a Hunting Lodge for the nearby Dering Estate. This freehouse has been under the same ownership for over 20 years. Imposing exterior, attractive interior, the pub includes a 25 cover restaurant and three bedrooms for guests.Two traditional bars and a family room, no wide screen TV, jukeboxes or electronic machines. Local beers (Goacher) and ciders represented. The pub has a great reputation for its food and the wine cellar is particularly well stocked. Expect also well kept port, whiskies and cognac.

Seafood is king in the restaurant (Egon Ronay's 1997 South of England Regional Winner of Seafood Pub of the Year). The menu features

Honey and ginger roast with octopus salad
Mussels in garlic and cream sauce
Monkfish in bacon, orange and cream sauce
Sea Bass with marsh, samphire and beurre
