Osteria Posillipo, Herne Bay

This restaurant built much of its reputation on fantastic pizzas supported by a range of Italian dishes. However now you will find some gems across the whole menu. The pizzas are still exceptional, cooked in wood burning ovens, amongst the best I've tried.

The interior is modern and smart, there is a wonderful balcony for outdoor dining with sea views. Service is good, children welcome, and there is function room for hire. The restaurant is unpretentious and you'll struggle to spend more than £20 a head for two courses. 

If you want a good table you'll almost certainly have to book in advance. There is a pretty good selection for vegetarians.

    • Fusilli - Paesana With onions, mushrooms, courgettes, cherry tomato and cream sauce
