The building is a large bay fronted property with a hanging sign above the front door and ample parking in a beautiful garden to the rear. The restaurant also has accommodation and the proximity of the Channel Tunnel terminal mean it's a great spot for an overnight stay before venturing to the continent. The atmosphere in the Wife of Bath is charming, it's a good restaurant but definitely unstuffy and relaxed. The building's interior is in character with the Victorian exterior, fresh linen table cloths and recently cut flowers adorn the tables, the service is attentive and helpful. The menu isn't extensive but the dishes are excellent. The style of the food is modern French with a smattering of local ingredients (fresh fish and Kent Duckling to name but two). Booking is a good idea at busy times, but if you're in the area it's well worth a quick detour. Example of menu:
