01/12/11 In The Stone - New information service
In the Stone, a new information service aimed at young people and parents, is being launched. The In the Stone project allows young people and parents to find out information on everything from bullying and homelessness to sexual health and money matters. The launch will allow people to find out more about the initiative and get information from partner agencies such as Connexions, InFo ZoNe, Kent Fire & Rescue, Kent Police, Maidstone Baptist Church, Mid Kent College, Switch, Primary Care Trust and KCC Children, Families and Social Care. Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, Cllr John A. Wilson, said: “This is a really great project. There’s isn’t currently one place where parents and young people can find out this information but now they can. In the Stone gives them useful information about organisations, contact details and how they can help. “Many young people may find they have no-one to talk to about issues they may have and this will help guide them in the right direction. Similarly parents of young people may not know where to direct their children and this is where In the Stone comes in.” At the launch the Switch Café will have a milkshake bar where the first 100 young people will get a free milkshake. There will also be snacks around the venue. The booklets will be available for people to take away and the website – www.inthestone.co.uk will be on the big screens for people to see.
