If you're looking for M20 traffic news and possible delays you must factor in Operation Stack. This is the name given to the system of 'stacking' lorries on the motorway when the Channel Tunnel or local ports are blocked. Used for the first time in the early 1990s, this traffic management system is used four or five times a year on average. If you want to share the local knowledge - avoid the bottom of M20 completely when it's in force, delays on the major and minor routes can be considerable. In these conditions think about postponing your journey or finding an alternative route. If you want M25 resources visit our M25 Traffic News (AA Roadwatch, Highways Agency, Traffic England links).

Kent Road Traffic Links & Resources

Highways Agency - Kent traffic real-time map - The main traffic England website provides 'live' traffic updates for all national and regional major routes. The information is provided by the National Traffic Operations Centre (NTOC) of the Highways Agency. This is the most reliable web based traffic resource in our experience. Information is collected from the motorways and major A-Roads using sensors and readers such as inductive loops and ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) cameras. The data is constantly updated thus presenting an accurate picture of the current situation on the roads.
