Folkestone Races - 2011 Racing At Folkestone

Folkestone Racecourse is at Westenhanger, about four miles outside of Folkestone. There is a railway station at Westenhanger adjacent to the course, by road exit J11, M20.

Folkestone is a right handed grass track.

Admission prices for racing at Folkestone in 2011 are as follows:

Tuesday 12th April = Flat Racing

Thursday 21st April = Flat Racing – kmfm Easter Family Day
As well as six exciting flat races there will be lots of free entertainment for the children PLUS accompanied race goers under 18 are free making it an inexpensive day out for all the family.  
And that’s not all! Promotional codes allowing discounted vouchers to this event are available in the local KM newspapers which will entitle you to adult entry to the racecourse on 21st April for just £10.50.  Make sure you look out for them a couple of weeks before the event in your local KM paper then just log onto www.folkestone-racecourse.co.uk to book your tickets!

Free entertainment includes a space hopper race, egg and spoon race, face painting, Wii entertainment tent,  ball bouncer pit, inflatable assault course, inflatable bouncy boxing and an inflatable climbing wall.
As well as the entertainment for the children, Canterbury Horse Rescue will be bringing along two ponies to the event, which have been adopted by Folkestone Racecourse and The KM Group.  Dandy and Basil are sure to keep the younger race goers amused.

Folkestone Amateur Boxing Club will also be doing boxing demonstrations as well as inter club sparring and skipping for the children.  They will be demonstrating that it is not just the boys that can box to keep fit – the girls can do it too!

If the girls don’t want to get involved with the boxing they can visit Caz's Cup cake stand and try their hand at cup cake decorating!

Ladies day at Folkestone Racecourse, what better excuse could there be to put on your best, buy yourself a hat and spend all morning getting ready for an afternoon/evening of fun?  Enjoy the thrill of the horses thundering by whilst the dapper crowds enjoy Pimms, wine or beer. Ladies Evening is a gorgeous day out – offering entertainment for all the family. There will also be prizes for best hat and best dressed lady.

Friday 24th June = Flat Racing – Builders Day
This builder’s day sees the third running of the ‘Folkestone Hammer’. This is a six furlong handicap for three year olds and upwards rated 66-85. It is Folkestone’s most prestigious flat race, and is sure to be a fiercely contested event. Not only will speed have to be at the fore but the ability to cope with Folkestone’s unique undulations, testing the horse’s balance and coordination to the maximum. Hammer is going to be the operative word as from the off the horses will be going hammer and tongs to the wire.

Kmfm Essential 80’s Folkestone will be holding one of everyone’s favourite race meeting. It was the decade that gave us Roland Rat and Margaret Thatcher, The eighties. You can relive it at Folkestone Racecourse with an evening of racing followed by an 80’s disco with kmfm. You can dress up in your favourite 80’s icon and there will be competitions to find the race goer with the best outfit/hairstyle.
