27/10/11 Taekwondo Instructor Programme - Academy development

Tan’Gun Taekwondo Academy is looking for martial arts’ black belts to help deliver its fun, fitness and self-defence ethos across Kent.

The Academy, which already teaches 400 students in South East London, is appealing for taekwondo or karate black belts to join the fast-track instructors’ programme with a view to opening classes throughout the county.

Chief instructor David Carmichael, 4th dan, said: “Tan’Gun Taekwondo has made a huge impact in South East London, with children and adults enjoying our regular classes. Our students range from beginners to advanced competitors, one of which recently joined the British team.”

The Academy’s expansion into Kent means that new instructors are needed. Those with a taekwondo black belt grade or a dan grade from a similar style are welcome to contact David about potentially embarking on a professional martial arts career.

Candidates would be placed on a fast-track programme of dedicated training. This would ensure the trainee instructor was familiar with the syllabus and able to perform the necessary patterns, basics and sparring prior to going before a black belt grading panel.

David said: “We will mentor potential instructors, offer plenty of support and help so they feel confident and at ease in what they are doing. It is a real partnership, with administration support on hand and the Tan’Gun brand firmly behind all instructors.”

Tan’Gun Taekwondo prides itself on the family friendly atmosphere and high quality WTF-style programme, the same style which will soon be seen in action at the 2012 London Olympics.

As well as a prosperous adult contingent, Tan’Gun has a dedicated programme for children. It offers a Tigers club for three to five-year-olds, a Dragons club for five to seven-year-olds and a Ninjas club for eight to 11-year-olds.

Those interested can work as part-time or full-time instructors, training children and adults and reinforcing Tan’Gun’s philosophy of modesty, etiquette, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit.

David added: “We are an enthusiastic Academy with excellent instructors and a friendly welcome for new students. We work with all ages and all abilities. If you would like to be a part of this growing organisation, then please get in contact.”
