01/07/08 Interschools Competition - Cobtree Manor Park Golf Course

 

Youngsters got into the swing of things last week as they took part in a golfing competition.

Cobtree Manor Park Golf Course held its annual Interschools Competition for 61 young people aged between 11 and 18.

Sixteen teams from six schools entered the competition. Those schools included St Simon Stock School who won first prize, their team was made up of Bradley Wood, Josh Ellis, Joe Baker and Ronan Doyle. Howard School and Rochester Maths came second and third respectively, while Oakwood Park, Swadelands, Maidstone Grammar for Boys and Cornwallis entered teams.

The St Simon Stock team were presented with the trophy by the Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Denise Joy and prizes sponsored by Golf Gear Direct.

The event was organised by Steve Mattingly of Medway Golf Centre, the contractor that operates the Golf Services at Cobtree, with the support of Maidstone Borough Council and Caterleisure Ltd.
