02/10/14 Cricket Club Celebrations - Kings Hill

Thanks to support from the community, one of Kings Hill’s most popular clubs is celebrating a series of accolades.

Kings Hill Cricket Club’s 1st team has won the Kent Regional Cricket League (KRCL), its U11 Vampires won the Mid Kent Youth League Division 2 and the Hurricanes came 3rd in Division 1 – the latter two in their first season at that level.

“We are immensely grateful for the support we receive from Kings Hill residents and parents of the junior teams who are ever present during training and home games,” said Marc Kimpton, the club’s chairman.

“It’s been a brilliant year all round and we would like to thank everyone who contributes to making our club the success that it is – including Liberty Property Trust, who sponsor us, umpires, scorers, groundsmen, volunteers and, of course, the players.

“We are also very grateful to Liberty and its development partner Kent County Council for donating the use of the Kings Hill cricket oval and pitch and for building the pavilion.”

The club was founded in 2006 and has continued to grow with many local supporters and players. Andrew Blevins, managing director of Kings Hill developer Liberty Property Trust UK said that it is Kings Hill’s community spirit that sets it apart from other developments.

“Kings Hill is much more than just a place to live or work,” he said. “It is a tremendously active community with numerous clubs, societies and social events as well as cafes, restaurants, shops and a pub where people can meet.

“As a developer it is very pleasing to see that people enjoy life at Kings Hill so much,”

Kings Hill, a contemporary garden village, is set in 800 acres near the county town of Maidstone and is just two miles from junction 4 of the M20. It was a former airfield and is now home to around 8,000 residents and more than 200 businesses employing some 5,000 people.

There are also two primary schools with a third planned and a village centre with shops including Waitrose; Costa Coffee; Domino’s and restaurants as well as a surgery, dry cleaners, shoe repairers, pharmacy and opticians.
