Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure was ‘delighted’ this week as news that three sites in the Borough, including the Council’s sports centre, may be used as training camps for the Olympics.

‘This is great news,’ said Cllr James Scholes. ‘It’s a real credit to the owners and managers of these facilities that the Olympic officials feel that they are good enough for the best in the world to train at. ‘

It is likely that the diving pool at the Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre, managed by Fusion, is likely to be used but these details are yet to be confirmed.

‘Having the Olympics in the country is great news in itself but for our own sports centre to be a part of this event would be good for encouraging the take up of sport in this area. We will ensure that those that use it will get the best welcome we can give.’ James concluded.
