888.com Conducts First-Ever Poker Bootcamp in Europe
Over the June 1 weekend we held our very first 888.com Poker Bootcamp outside of the US.
Current 888.com players visited the Bootcamp website and new customers found information through online and offline poker-related media. Our first camp had 44 students.
The bootcamp course material is in-depth and the tutors who run the event are all well-known faces from the poker world, among them in the June camp were Padraig Parkinson (poker pro and commentator), Nick Wealthall (poker pro and television presenter) and Neil Channing (poker pro).
Although the course was initially designed for intermediate players who want to take their game to the next level, the topics range from guiding the beginner to providing tips to the more experienced player. Players learn to exercise patience and self-control and the "fine art" of bluffing, stealing blinds and calculating odds.
The students were a mix of online qualifiers and new poker players.
The course was interactive, allowing participants to play hands of poker and gain some hands-on practical experience. Playing against each other allowed the students to form relationships and, by the end of the course, they were swapping phone numbers and 888.com usernames. Some had even started to organize their own poker tournament as a follow-up to the course. Everyone attending the course left having learned more about the game and feeling more confident about their own game.
Students have been writing blogs about how much they enjoyed the course and what a positive experience it was for them. You can visit http://www.888bootcamp.com/news.aspx. Also see our forum threads at Pacific Poker.
The event was such a huge success that we have already planned the next bootcamp for August 18-19 in London. There will be another bootcamp in Germany later this year.
