17/05/11 The Mighty Cranbrook Town - Film Premier A film charting the story of a local football club’s battle for promotion is to be screened to the public for the first time this Sunday (May 22) to raise vital funds for Kent Air Ambulance. Cameras follow Cranbrook Town Football Club as the East Sussex League side try to attract a record 2,000 fans for the biggest match in the town’s history which they need to win to be promoted. The first public screening of the The Mighty Cranbrook Town at Hawkhurst’s Kino Cinema will be attended by Maidstone and Weald MP Helen Grant. The 75-minute feature will be shown at 4pm as part of the cinema’s Flix and Pix film festival with further screenings on June 12, 19 and 26. Guests including Kent Air Ambulance Clinical Manager Rob Wilkinson and Director of Operations Leigh Curtis arrived in limousines for the red carpet premiere in April. The Mighty Cranbrook Town was produced by ex-professional footballer Tom Smith in aid of the life-saving charity which relies almost entirely on public donations. The helicopter airlifted Tom’s film producer father Stephen after he suffered burns in a bonfire accident two years ago. Tom, from Cranbrook, has also raised money for the charity through his Blue Book of discount vouchers which can be used at local businesses. Tickets for The Mighty Cranbrook Town cost £6 each and are available to book online or by calling The Kino Cinema on 01580 754321.
